IN A KID'S WORLD
Music & Lyrics © 2000 Barbara Reed

In A Kid’s World
The days are filled with magic and dreams.
In A Kid’s World

Everything is colors and schemes.
When we played together she led the way.
I was scared; I’d run away.
But she stayed—

In A Kid’s World
The future’s just a distant dream
But the “in” crowd
It’s fast and fun and dangerously free
As we leave behind the world that we knew
We pretend we’re not afraid of the new
It’s never true--

The roads we traveled wouldn’t be the same.
One exciting, one so tame.
Try to stop it, try to hold on to time—
But it goes on just the same.

In A Kid’s World
The toys so quickly change with the years.
Now it’s her world
Those toys have been replaced by her tears.
When she hurt she learned to keep it inside.
Just pretend, take it in stride.
It was a lie—

The roads we traveled couldn’t be the same.
Hers exciting, mine so tame.
Try to stop it, try to hold on to time—
But it goes on just the same.

SHE SAW YOU COMIN’
Music & Lyrics © 2000 Barbara Reed

She Saw You Comin’
And her mem’ries all returned
She saw you comin’
Her hate began to burn.
Her daddy’s death must be avenged
She’d finally get revenge
Mama’s tears, they gave her the nerve
You got what you deserved.

She Saw You Comin’
Time to pay you back
She Saw You Comin’
She launched a new attack.
Her daddy died a broken man
You might have saved him, but you ran
Now the truth, it gave her the nerve
You got what you deserved.

When you saw her comin’
You knew she had you cold.
When you saw her comin’
You knew your lies would all unfold
She had to make you pay the price
No matter how you rolled the dice
It was your cold heart that gave her the nerve
You got what you deserved.

THE TEAR RETURNS TO ME
Music & Lyrics © 1985 Barbara Reed

Once was a tear, simple and clear
Once in awhile had to appear
Maybe the same, but your name—
Makes it return to me
And fall so suddenly.

Softer than light, harder than night--
This is the tear, often so near.
Maybe the same, but your name—
Makes it a memory
And that Tear Returns To Me.

Though it’s traveled for miles,
Searching out a smile, does it seem
An endless dream?
I can’t begin to say what that tear betrays.
Won’t somebody make it stay away?

After it falls, never recall—
What did it mean so tiny and small?
Maybe not the same, but your name
Makes it a memory,
And
The Tear Returns To Me.

(You Were)
Right Here All The Time
Music & Lyrics © 2000 Barbara Reed

Where’d these feelings come from?
They took me by surprise
You really turned my head around
When you looked into my eyes.

THE CHILD IN YOU
Music & Lyrics © 1985 Barbara Reed

It’s The Child In You
T
hat I miss most of all.
If I’m to lose the rest,
Leave me just the best.
It’s the sound of your steps
As they tiptoe out of sight—
Make me still recall
All those tears in the night.

It’s the shine of your eyes
That cannot be replaced.
And the feel is not the same
Of another’s touch of flame.
And your thoughts of the day
Gently soothe the way.
Make it feel alright
To live with you away.

Funny, though, I’ve always known it to be so.
The things you love become the things that make You go.
Why does it change?
It seems an evil is at work.
There’s no answer here in my heart.

It’s
The Child In You
T
hat trembles in the dark.
And your voice when it breaks--
Someone’s words were just too sharp.
We were there through so much,
Now it’s time to move and such.
If I’m to lose the rest
Darling, leave me just the best.

Friends tried to tell me, but I
Could not see the signs
I took the longest road to get back home
And now I find---
You’re
RIGHT HERE ALL THE TIME.

Where’d these feelings come from?
That will not be denied
I’ve been goin’ in circles
No matter how hard I tried

It took me years to learn it
To not be swayed by glitter and gold
I took the longest road to get back home
And now I find—
You’re
RIGHT HERE ALL THE TIME

Where’s these feelings come from?
I guess I’ll never know
All that really matters now
Is to let these feelings grow

Our love is a sweet surprise I would have missed
if not for you
I took the longest road to get back home
And now I find—
You’re
RIGHT HERE ALL THE TIME.

I thought I’d have to travel
So I set my sights for far away
But your sweet love’s reminded me
Of what I knew, but could not see.

Don’t know why I fought it
When you’re everything a love should be
But your sweet smile’s reminded me
Of what I knew but couldn’t see—

Where’s these feelings come from?
You say they’re nothing new
All that really matters now
Is to let the love shine through

Guess I should have seen it
But I was busy running away
I took the longest time to get back home
And now I find—
You're RIGHT HERE ALL THE TIME
